We’re excited to announce the Kids Making Sense Program! We are partnering with Sonoma Tech and Dana Middle School in San Pedro to bring air quality into the classroom. This interactive program will:
- Train ten middle school teachers at Dana Middle School in the Kids Making Sense curriculum.
- Teach students about air pollution and air quality monitoring
- Guide students through the construction of air quality monitors. The students will take them out into their neighborhoods to measure air pollution and gather data. San Pedro is home to the Port of Los Angeles, many highways, and many refineries, which will prove to have interesting results.
- Present this data and their findings to area legislators, policymakers and regulators.
