Coalition for Clean Air Policy Director Bill Magavern released the following statement on the Supreme Court’s decision in West Virginia v. EPA, which limits the US Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) authority to regulate climate pollutants from power plants:
“A reactionary Supreme Court has dealt a setback to EPA’s climate authority. EPA should still exercise its full authority over air pollution, and Congress should take bold action to prevent climate change. California must continue to lead by strengthening emission standards for cars, trucks and trains, and our voters can invest billions in cleaning up transportation and stopping wildfires by passing the Clean Cars & Clean Air initiative in November.”
