California has the worst air quality in the nation, and more than half of our state’s global warming pollution comes from cars, trucks and the fuel they burn.
Lawmakers in Sacramento are now deciding how to spend the record budget surplus. Join us in calling for historic investments in clean air.
Urgent: Tell your legislators to invest in clean air now.
98 percent of Californians live in an area with an “F” grade for air quality, according to a recent report by the American Lung Association. Californians, especially low-income earners and people of color, have been suffering from the impacts of dangerous air pollution from fossil fuels for far too long. We can’t keep living like this. And we may never have a better opportunity for change.
Urge state lawmakers to secure funding and policies that deliver clean air, reduce global warming pollution and create healthier communities across the state by:
- Getting the dirtiest cars off the road, and ensuring all families have access to clean cars by fully funding projects like the Clean Cars 4 All program and the Clean Vehicle Assistance Program. These are programs that make it affordable and convenient for thousands of low-income residents statewide to make the switch to cleaner vehicles.
- Ensuring half of the electric vehicle charging infrastructure funds across the state are invested in the communities with the greatest need. So that families that live near freeways, ports, and freight-hubs benefit from this clean technology too.
- Fully funding programs that are delivering the biggest pollution reductions, including clean trucks, transit buses and school bus fleets.

Dear
As someone who lives in California, I’m deeply concerned about the air I’m breathing. Our state is home to some of the worst air pollution in the nation, and transportation pollution is California’s largest driver of climate change.
We need to act now if we’re going to make our state healthier and transition off fossil fuels — for us and our planet.
As you finalize the budget, please prioritize investments in clean air and clean transportation.
I’m urging you to secure a budget and policies that will:

With California’s unprecedented budget surplus this year, the time to act is now.
Californians have been living with dangerous air pollution for too long, and we may never have a better opportunity to take key steps toward a clean energy future for all. It’s time for California to invest in clean air and a healthy climate!
Thank you.
Thank you for making your voice heard. We couldn’t do the work we do without you.

Clean air, less sickness and lives saved.
We all must breathe to live! Clean air is so important to our Health!! Let’s clean up our air, take care of our children and reduce climate change by reducing transportation pollution.
Please make transportation pollution a big part of the plan to get dirty cars and trucks off our roads by funding projects like the Clean Cars 4 All program and the Clean Vehicle Assistance Program and installing more EV charging stations.
Let’s act now while we have the funds and put investments in clean air and clean transportation at the top of the budget priorities!
This matters so much, as my child has asthma. Plus, we must mitigate the climate crisis.
